After a couple of months of hard, comparison shopping, talking to Our Forum Members and others in the business, I have decided on and ordered one of Viking Tactics Premium Two Point Slings.  I and they also believe that we have figured out how to use/make this sling into a single point sling without any major modifications to the weapon or the sling.  They have three basic slings.  I ordered the top of the line cushioned fully adjustable sling system.  As soon as I get the unit set up, I will try to post some pics on here for all to see and criticize...lol!!  I do believe that I have made the correct decision..

Kyle and mel sent me the same one (cushioned and coyote) prior to my last deployment.

I like it a lot. You won't be sorry.

That's good to know.  I'm to old for any more deployments, but I know that 13 months of hard living will test the metal of a lot of things, not just the equipment!  Thank you for doing what you are doing!  We didn't get one bit of thanks for what we did and we lost 59,000+ people!  I won't ever put up with that kind of crap ever again!

How bout 6 month deployments? I'm Navy so we got it a little easier than the 12-18 month Army and Marines. I did get some good use out of it though.

My dad is a vet as well and Hippies piss me off to this very day. Whenever he sees ANY personnel in uniform, he makes sure he walks right up and tells them how proud and thankful he is of what they're doing.

I have a VTAC 2 pt sling on my AR and love it.  So I'm really looking forward to hearing what you do with yours. I still have not been able to make my mind up on XCR sling after a year. Was hoping the new stock would maybe help that but I gave up on it.

I got mine off of Kyle when he was hawking them after a training course for a few bucks off.

I have them on all my rifles now.

I have one and I like it, but the KZ padded one that Botach sells is the exact same one at only $15 each (instead of $40).

You know Cartmann, I looked pretty hard at that KZ sling.  I know you how you are on equipment so if you say that they are alike, I believe you.  Are they identical?

SDDuc996, I was in the USAF.  We also had 6 month trips to SEA.  We had sites all over the place over there.  3 in Korea, 2 in Laos, 3 in Cambodia, 3 in Thailand (these were GREAT tours) and 9-11 in Country/Vietnam, depending upon how hot the action was.  We did a LOT of traveling from one of those sites to the next, checking on calibrations of equipment, readiness of the equipment to run missions, etc.  We ended up actually running buglenotes on 2-3 of the sites before it was over for us.  We had "Loran", all tubes, 3 30' vans full of that crap.  Ground triangulated bombing.  Two sites on the ground and one of the B-52's as the 3rd part of the triangle.  We knew "exactly" where the 52's were and when they got to the "right" place, one of us said "hack" and three cells of three B-52's each, total of NINE B-52's, with 105 pieces of ordinance, 750's in the bays and 500's slung under the wings and they would drop and drop and drop!  Closest we ever ran to one of our sites was a little over 2 1/2 miles away.  We were primary on that mission and when the first "hack" was applied, a bunch of us ran outside the buildings and vans a saw and heard one of the most outrageous things that I/we had ever seen!  Those concussions and the noise were absolutely awesome!  There was NOTHING that lived thru that deal.  The PI's and FAC's told us that there probably 1400-1500 NVA under those bombs.....

Yeah, the "Bigs" got rich off Our Blood, Sweat and Tears!  59,000+ KIA, God only knows how many MIA's yet to be found or recognized.  An untold number of Us that are still physically and mentally hurting from that "police action".......... then, traitors like Jane Fonda, Tom Haden and others, still breathing air, SUCKS and ALWAYS WILL!  People like me, who didn't bleed, weren't in actual combat and got no purple heart, still disabled due to 120MM rockets OR 80MM mortars.......fighting with the darn VA for treatment.  Their regulations SUCK and until they get, if they EVER get, themselves straightened out and REALLY begin to help us, we are passing away each and every day, many of us with not one bit of VA help or assistance, I KNOW THAT THIS IS OFF TOPIC, BUT, sometimes I just can't help myself.  I have been trying to get my back problems taken care of since 2004! and still I don't have any real help!  Just a bunch of drugs that are tearing my body down!  There is a LOT MORE!  I just need to shut my mouth and go lay back down....

I don't notice a difference.  Can you tell a difference?  VTAC on top, KZ on the bottom.

The KZ's are great.I have about 5 of them now.I have a padded one for the PTR-91 because that's a fair bit heavier than the others, but I've used their slings and they're quick detach mounts with great success. So for Botach kicks ass, just make sure they have the item in stock before ordering.

I have 3 of the padded KZ slings that I bought on sale for 14.95 a piece when Cartman mentioned them in another post. I like them. Ive never owned the VTAC sling so I cant compare, but KZ's slings work great for me and seem to be built tough.

Are the KZ slings a knock-off of the VTAC slings?

These are the ones that I have.Personally I think for $10 they are a steal.I'm not sure if they are V-tac knockoff,I just know they are an excellent inexpensive two point sling.

Yes, basically they are the same.  I have both a VTAC and the KZ and their is really not much difference between the 2 other than the price.  One is $50 and the other $15 (talking about padded version)

See DTOM's post above, that's the model I am talking about.  If you scroll to the bottom of that link, and select "color" you will notice a "black padded" option for $5 more.

Those KZ slings are a great value. They are made in the U.S. and seem to be very well made. I just bought a padded and a non-padded version and I'm quite pleased so far.

I really looked HARD at those Botac slings.  I was recommended to the VTAC by someone we know and trust, so that is the way I went.  God knows that I am really short on $$ these days, "IF" I would have known or realized that the slings, KZ's??, are the same slings, I would have certainly bought one of those.  IN ADDITION, I didn't know whether the HK hooks OR the MASH hooks would work the way that I am after, I would have been able to save even MORE money buying those from Botac as well.  Anyway, that is "water under the bridge" and I hold no malice against anyone.  Anyway, if I can get to feeling better and get some things done that come first, I fully intend to find out whether I can make these slings work as a good "2 point" AND a good "Single point".  I do believe that this can be done.....we'll see and I will let everyone know whether it will work or not.  I "think" that I will end up using an HK hook on one end and the Mash hook on the other....... Then again, this application may NOT work on every XCR, because of where the hooks are on the receivers vs the hooks on the folding stock..... When I get those little quirks ironed out, I intend on plasticising the individual hooks to keep them quiet and reduce wear on the hooks and mounting bracket/hook(s).

I don't have any experience with slings. After reading this I ordered the padded KZ along with the KZ QD swivel. Now for my question, The stock I ordered with my XCR (still waiting for it  Sad) is the Magpul folding collapsible model. Will this be all I need to connect the sling? I'm assuming there is a place to attach it on the stock.   Huh?

I don't think that I would "assume" anything.  Go to their site and LOOK at the stock you are getting.  Then you will know by looking at it OR you can email or call them....

If it's an MOE then no it does not have QD points. The CTR does however.
