Comp 3 is more rugged.

T1 claims 50k hours (thats almost 6 years if left on!) on setting 8, but I had a battery go dead on setting 12 after only sitting in the safe for 2 weeks.

I would guess that is probably a bad battery, but...

If it is a normal size carbine, I would go with the M3 due to the 2MOA dot primarily.  The M3 also claims 50k hours, I got mine in '06 (I think), turned it on full time a couple years later, and haven't turned it off or changed the battery since.  I might change it sometime just for preventative maintenance.

I would consider the T1 if I wanted an optic on a very short SBR/10.5" or less, seeing as that is likely to stay shooting at pretty short range anyway.

That's interesting about the battery life. Is their quoted service life only for the lowest settings?

If not I'd guess bad battery as well. Or possibly a defective optic. Might be worth looking into, since I'm sure they'd repair or replace it for you if it's not working as intended.

To address the OP, I'd go with the 2 MOA. What I have now is a 4 MOA (Though not a T-1, I'm poor.) and it's great for short range, but beyond 100 yds it just covers too much target.

T1.  Lightweight, small, and did I mention lightweight?    Wink  If you can, compare them side by side.  My T1 is 4 MOA of course but it seems smaller.  Maybe it's just an illusion but that's what it seems to me.  From the standpoint of the "fighting carbine", the T1 would be my choice; it's fairly rugged--anything that would damage it would likely have damaged any other sight; it's compact and the battery life is pretty good.
