A friend of mine likes my XCR so much that he wants one of his own. I told him he could buy it direct from RobArm, but I don't know what the current lead time is for a standard XCR-L 5.56.
If he places an order, how long before it ships?

You can get it from a dealer, probably shipped tomorrow. From what I've seen, you can also get fair prices by going through someone like Kermit Zahm at Wild Thangs Farms. You can contact him here: frgprnz@outdrs.netHTH, Sean

I suggested the direct option only because I thought he could save a few bucks. (If he had bought when I did, he could have saved a few hundred bucks.)

I ordered a standard 5.56 light barrel XCR just after Thanksgiving and was told it would be here before Christmas. I followed up a few times after the new year and Cate told me on Jan 15 that she would let me know when it is shipping. Haven't heard anything since then.
Hope that gives you some help on calculating the current lead time.

Got mine in 3 weeks from date of order. Thats unheard of per my shootin buddies. They were quoting me up to 10 months with most of the lead AR platform productions. I dont know if that was realistic though.

A lot of any lead time will be based on any specific option you may have requested too. Things that are out of their control or contracted work like chroming can really gum up the pre-planning.

For fiscal year 1996 NASA was authorized approx. $14.2B in spending. For comparison, the Health and Human Services budget for the same year was over $600B. In other words, Health and Human Services consumes the entire NASA budget in about 6 workdays. People who believe the money spent flying into space could be used to solve all our social ills should consider this fact: Does anybody really believe an extra 6 days of work by the social welfare agencies would solve our problems? -Mike Mullane

I don't know what options you ordered but *most likely* if you want one in your hands by the end of this week (depending on your location) without paying any more than you would have by buying direct from Rob Arms......contact Kermit Zahm at the email a few posts up. If you need his cell to get things rolling faster....contact me and I'll try and dig it up. He will give you a great price and generally has the basic 5.56 light bbl'd XCRs with the folders (or even some AR style stocks) in stock. Something appears to be very wrong with the ordering system for individuals at RA. No offense intended, but there are far too many threads like this floating around for individual purchases. Sean

I don't know what options you ordered Yeah, nothing fancy. Standard 5.56 Light barrel, M4 folding adapter (no stock), 7.62x39 conversion kit, a couple spare parts. I've already paid, so can't call Mr. Zahm. Thanks.

Gotcha.....When I placed my order and they missed the deadline by more than two weeks and couldn't give me a date as to when, I canceled (after finding a dealer that had what I wanted in stock). I wasn't out any money or any 3% CC fee.....so I see where you're coming from. Good luck with it. Sean

I have the same question as PDBreske. For an Standard Rifle ordered through Robinson, what is the average order lead time?
(My order was for a Standard XCR, light barrel, folding tube stock, 5.56, no other options)
Thanks

Hey! I can answer my own question now. For an order placed 01-28-10, my rifle was received on 03-16-10. Not bad at all, with some manufacturers taking 6 months to fill an order.
The rifle is perfectly assembled. The upper receiver is tight to the lower, the folding stock is perfectly adjusted and everything looks great. There is a white sticker on the outside of the box that has the initials, "TB". Whoever TB is, they did a great job!

I have a genuine Terra Rifle! That explains a lot.
For all the BS, I mean, thoughtful discussion that I have read about how they supposedly jamb at first until broken in, I had no problems on my first shoot yesterday. I didn't have time to do any familiarization training before an official shoot, so I just thought what the hell, and went ahead and used the new XCR. No problems, no jambs, just kept on running. WHAT A TACK DRIVER! Why has no one mentioned that these things can repeatedly put a 3 round group inside a dime?
Gas settings, I don't need to stinking gas settings, on "4" it sent brass half way across the universe, so after about 60 rounds I set it down to "3". No problem there so I set it down to "2", still no problem. Ran out of rounds before I could try "1". 120 rounds, no jambs, no failures of any kind, unbelievable accuracy. The folding tube stock lines up great with the shorty Troy sights. Cheek weld?, no problem there, fits great with the low sights.
Here is the best part: I've been taking a lot of crap from the M4 crowd, I never liked the M16/AR15 platform from the start, and never gave up my M14 (not M1A, an H&R M14). I got quite a bit ribbing over the (unknown) XCR, that was, until they saw what I did with it. After the shoot they just stood there, then... I folded the stock, now they just stood there with their jaws open (stocks can't fold on a AR15). Quietest I've ever seen the rifle range.

Have you tried firing it with the folded stock ?
Its actually pretty neat.
The other people who tried it were pretty amazed, especially as they were still hitting paper.

You may remember me from earlier in this thread. Just to give an update to anyone curious about this topic, I'm still waiting on my standard 5.56 XCR that I ordered in November and Alex told me would "be in my hands before Christmas". Been in contact with Cate at least once every two weeks since January and she was supposed to send me an update last Thursday. So lead time could be as much as five months and counting..... and four months later than what the first estimate is from Robinson. Here's hoping this is the week...

with Terra's attitude and presence on these forums, and you have my main reason for holding on instead of canceling my order.
You're 100% right about Terra. She called me last night and said she's watching them build my rifle right now and it will ship either today or Friday. Thanks Terra!

Ordered my XCR-L rifle [with 18.6" HBAR, M4 folding stock adaptor(no stock), and FDE cerakote] on 16 March 2010 and picked it up yesterday (06 April 2010). It took 3 weeks exactly! Thanks Robarms for the outstanding customer service and quick delivery.
