Got this rifle friday, threw the sights on it, established a good 100yd zero and verified setting 2 @ 200 also (even though it's probably in meters, its close enough).  Rear sight is an HK416 (for 14.5" barrel) and front is a Troy titan, short model.  Scrounged some ammo, steel cased silver bear 62gr  and headed to the range to see how far downrange she'd hit.

Range conditions:  29degrees, 7mph L2R wind, snow on ground, was impossible to make out the white painted gongs from the snow background past 100yds.  Had to use the rusty target frames as reference, for holdover, to place shots on target.  Looked through bino's a couple times prior to shots, to see where to hold vertically on the target frames.

started at 300,

not a bad start,....a little high, but I was just happy to get them on the target I couldn't see.

400,

shot 3, looked through bino's, said huh.....shot 3 more, and ended up with two decent groups.

500,  the HK sight's highest setting is 400, I had old data/notes for 500, so held about 20" over the gong

shot 3, went downrange and  painted targets , decided to shoot a few more  (group on right).

600,    looked at 600, didn't even try, couldn't hardly see the target frame,  probably need around 70 more inches from 5 to 600.......thats kinda the deal breaker distance with the stunted velocity from a 16" barrel.

Very happy with this rifle so far.  New style trigger is excellent, fit/finish is perfect, function is great.....looks like a winner.

Damn, that looks cold. I think me and my XCR will stay inside where it is warm.

Glad you like it.

Wow, talk about jealous, I'd love a range like that to shoot at.

All we've got is a 100-yard cleared (mud)field in the National Forest pointed at the side of the mountain.  Roll Eyes

Man, wish I had a range like that.  Nice shooting too, especially with Silver Bear (that ammo runs, but doesn't group for crap in most of my guns).

The big round gongs really ring in the cold weather.  Didn't know the range existed until this past spring.....50 minutes away in amish country.......been missin out for alot of years.

Finally put to rest any concern with  point of impact shifts, running the standard barrel with and without a supressor.  200yds, AAC M42K,  2 identical targets side by side, shot a group on each target with can, then a group on each target without can.....no difference at all.  *Rifle was cold for each string of shots and ice cold between the with and without shots.

Thanks for sharing . I love reading this kind of stuff. I wish more people would post "long range" range reports. I am very interested in how XCR accuracy measures up to the AR that we know can be a tack driver. Not many people scope their XCR's. Mosty Aimpoint and CQB glass.

I used to live up in NY. Syracuse Area, No good ranges like that there. They all go out to 100m. After moving to MO, thinking there would be be a gun store on even streets and a range on the odds. Heck no. I use the crappy one Fort. Leonard Wood. At least is free, but punk ass kids with there punk ass Sagias feel the need to obliterate the target stands all time.
