I'm looking to buy a good AR upper in 6.5.  I'm interested in something with match grade accuracy.  Can anyone make a recommendation for a good manufacturer?  How is AA's stuff?  Is it overpriced because they are "the" manufacturer?  Anyone have an opinion on SSK?  Any others you'd recommend?

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer!

Do you want to build or buy complete?

I know you probably don't want to be refrred to another forum, but 65grendel is back up and working, and I've recently been looking at some threads over there on this issue.  Even going to the site, you'll see a few banners of licensed manufacturers.  I did see J&T Distributing mentioned as a good budget source, and Lothar Walther appeared to be another popular brand.  Satern is good by reputation, but pricey.  Bill Alexander is supposed to be fanatical about quality control, so you probably get a top-notch product from AA-I can't imagine he would let anyone build his design at a higher quality then he puts out, so if price is not object I would probably go AA.  If you want lower budget, I am happy with my Model 1 sales 6.5 "sporter" unlicensed upper.  Model 1 has some questionable customer srevice in some areas(their online credit card system got hacked and they weren't too concerned about it) but I know several people who have built some VERY accurate 5.56 rifles with inexpensive Model 1 kits.  I haven't really tested mine for accuracy, and I'm shooting Wolf 123SP, so I can't vouch for it in 6.5, but function has been without problems.

I'd prefer to buy a complete upper.

AA is the best bet, although Stag also have an offering.

I'm surprised Sabre Defense hasn't been mentioned in this thread.

...65grendel is back up and working...

I just spent an hour and a half reading threads over there. Thanks for pointing me at them!  Smiley
