Essentially you drill a hole into the stock, place glue in the hole then tap these bases into the hole with a small hammer.

I really like the idea since it gives me QD swivels and the bases are flush with the stock, so they don't get caught on anything.

I was looking at using these on the wood stock of my 10/22.

  Never used it but I'm sure it would work.You could even drill a hole in the bottom and use a small wood screw to help insure it didn't come loose.Looks like a pretty good idea,I've thought of doing something like this myself actually.
