Yeah, it sounds mechanically seized, as in something got wedged in there somehow.  Unless you really made an error in the choice of an adhesive or some other kind of caustic substance over a lubricant/cleaning solvent I don't think it would have corrosion to blame.  The Wolf lacquer on the cases shouldn't gum it up that bad.

What does everyone think about this? Could it be possible to loosen the barrel screw, slide the gas block forward and rotate the barrel until the lugs line up to remove it?  This might also help loosen up whatever is binding the bolt I'd think.

M118sb,you might have something there.I think if you could put the barrel in a padded vice then just try to turn the receiver a bit it should break loose the bolt from the barrel extension. Now I don't mean gutwrenching torque, just kind of work it back and forth a bit and see if it pops loose.

I wondered about this, too. I've seen the rim on Wolf shells torn completely off by the extractor. I suppose it's possible something like that happened and the metal is wedged under/around the bolt carrier somehow? Though since it was still working when he last cleaned it, it would seem to indicate this isn't the case.

I'm definitely interested in seeing the solution to this one.

Assuming the round inside is fired and what remains is an empty case.

    Split the upper and lower.
Remove the recoil spring and guide.
Oil the crap out of the lower using break free or a penetrating oil and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a whole can in case there is debris stuck in the upper half.
Put a cleaning rod down the barrel and standing with one foot putting light pressure on the charging handle tap the end of the rod with a hammer driving the case backwards. you need pressure on the charging handle to help unlock the bolt as simply pushing back on the case should not unlock it.

If this doesn't work send it to Terra.

That's why I was thinking pressure from the front of the gas piston would work.  There's not a whole lot to damage up there too.

That will work, but you don't want to mar the piston, plus the barrel provides a nice long guide for the rod.

If you cleaned it and racked the action before you put it away how is it a stuck case?

If it is a broken extractor, I will eat a white dog turd.

I read recently that dog turds used to be white to to the higher levels of bleached flour in dog food. The bleach in the flour was what turned them white.

Now I don't feel so bad about some of the stuff I read and find interesting.   Wink

The PB Blaster will take care of any corrosion/rust in there, it makes taking an O2 sensor off after 60K miles easy.  I would soak it good with the blaster then use a dowel on the bolt face a few times.  If that doesn't work send it to Terra.

FLH3,

Have you gotten this problem corrected? Have you sent your upper to RobArms?
