Me and my buddy are starting a business applying Cerakote from NIC Industries.  We took a road trip down to Oregon and toured the facility, became a certified applicator.  We just dumped the money on the equipment and are waiting on our FFL and business license.  We're also still working on a name.  Should be up and running in a couple months.  Here is some of the work we have done on our personal firearms.

Nice! Did you do the stippling on the Glock yourself as well?

I'm in Oregon and thinking about trying to have my XCR done in FDE Cerakote.  Does NIC actually do coating or just sell the supplies?  If they don't, does anybody know the closest place to Portland that does?

NIC manufactures the ceramic coating and certifies, "trains" companies to apply it, then they outsource work to them.  You can call NIC and find the closest certified applicator in your area.   FDE's an awesome color to do a rifle in.... one of my favorites.    What I thought weird though...is in all these pics of the new remington acr, the lower and stock are done in FDE and the upper and barrel are done in  coyote tan.... weird color combo, but it has kinda grown on me???

I know what you mean.  I thought the color combo on the Remington ACR was weird as hell when I first saw it, but every time I see it, it looks just a little better.

I entered AAC's raffle to win one of 5 ACRs.  I think I have a pretty good chance of winning, back in August when I registered, the ticket serial numbers where only in the 543,000s.

Dang, I guess I will have to settle for the KAC SR-15.

In all seriousness, it should be a good event and if any XCR peeps are going let me know.  I will have my XCR along with some other goodies.

AZ I think I mentioned before that I worked with the guy who won a/the KAC SR-15 and QD suppressor last year. For some reason, he turned down the suppressor. I know, I don't get it either.

Even though it was a piece o shit KAC QD, it was still a FREE KAC QD. (well, +$200 tax stamp, but that would've been totally worth it.)

Oh man, a KAC QD.  Almost bought one of those back when they first came out.  They work I 'spose, but there are definitely better.

We established an LLC yesterday and will have the business license finalized later this week.  The FFL will go out right after that, so we're looking 2 months for the FFL is what I've been told.  If your in a big hurry though, let me know.  I'll call atf and see if I can do a few not under the business just for a couple friends for no profit, just paint?  I have to look into the legality of that though?  I don't want to mess with the ATF...understandably

They look very nice Brandon!  I hope that you can make a real success in you new endeavor.  Judging from what I can see and what I have seen of your work before this, I think that you will be able to make a go of it!  I certainly hope so.

Found out from the fire marshall a month ago that we need a commercial spray booth or a hood system.  A commercial spray booth looks to run anywhere from $3-4000.  We are trying to build up the money, but it is slow.  My guess is we'll be up mid next year.  Sorry for the delays.  We're both poor college students.  That kind of money will take some time.  Its a little depressing when I have people call too, I have to repeat the bad news.

For what it is worth, my neighbor went to a Cerakote class there too (about the same time), it will cost him almost $20,000 for the permits and booth to do it here in Kali.

I've been playing around with different templates for lizard skin type camo's.  For some reason I like that look a lot better than anything else?  I'll post some pics in a day or so.

The last two are of a shotgun I threw together with just a small piece of template, I think I'm gonna redo it but get a whole piece to eliminate the blotches and inconsistencies.

I like the digital pattern the best, uses 4 colors, green, black, and brown, and white:

I am just playing around with some different ideas here so any ideas on what you like, dislike, etc is helpful.  Once I get some more dollars for paint, I am going to do a quality multicam

Good news, I am getting a hefty tax return back and we have enough to get a spray booth.  We are submitting FFL paperwork in the next couple weeks so just a couple more months.
I am doing my xcr and glock in the desert three color camo above.  Final product coming soon, one more color to go when the wind dies down.  I have a price sheet that is almost completed for those of you interested in having things refinished.

The photos don't really do this justice, these three are my favorite color combo for desert camo.  I'll take some better ones when I get all done.
