So why is the ATF going after YHM but not AAC?

Not really sure, Maybe because YHM sent them a letter asking for clarification.  Can you imagine the backlash of having to register every single A2 flashhider out there...it would shut down the entire ATF.  Maybe I am naive but I am not rushing out to stock up on hiders though I will probably pick up a different thread pitch for my EVO 9 in case I ever need the other booster. My two cents.

OK, I just wrote the NRA, sent them a copy of YHM's letter and told them who we are and we would like for them to look into this and get back to us....
I'll keep you posted.

Good luck.  You might as well have sent it to Santa Claus. Cheesy  If you want action....contact Second Amendment Foundation, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, or Gun Owners of America.

NRA is as worthless as the tits on a boar.....especially when it comes to NFA or EBRs.

Sean

PS.  And Chris....I'm not knocking you for writing the NRA....I've done it before too....they just NEVER get back to you.   I was kinda poking fun at them somewhat at your expense.  My apologies....it was all in fun. Smiley

Unfortunately, you are pretty much correct.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck...

don't forget flash hiders are part of what makes a rifle an "assault weapon", according to democrats. This is only the beginning. I am not wearing a tin foil hat. This is the start of some seriously sneaky bullshit.

You know Sean, I am not upset about what you said to me, I AM UPSET THAT THE NRA ISN'T DOING WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING!  I mean, what are we paying them dues for anyway?  We should have a list of organizations that DO SOMETHING FOR GUN OWNERS, like we have for the various organizations that we buy different things from.  I believe someone called it a "sticky" and asked Lex to post it at the beginning of a topic and it would ALWAYS STAY THERE!.. We should jump on Our Lawmakers this weekend and throughout August while they are home on Vacation!~  This is some sneaky crap.  Now this is two things..... NO PRIMERS AND NOW THIS!

Again, I was just kidding....but to answer your question.....I dont' pay NRA dues for this reason.  I've written them a couple of times now, telling them I'll join and pay dues if they will promise me they will not compromise on ANY more gun related issues.  NEVER got a response any of those times.  I know they literally bombard members with constant pleas for money, but no.....when I'm offering to GIVE them money for a simple promise, nada.

Pathetic.

My money's going to GOA.

At this time (notice I said "at this time") the only change to the sales of flash hiders (where legal) are the ones used as an attachment device for suppressors.  Normal flash hiders and muzzle brakes can still be had.  If you suppressor uses a quick detach FH then you will be restricted to the one (1) that came with the suppressor and you will not be able to get a replacment.  Now the thread on suppressors that most people shun because you have to take off your normal FH and thread the can on, are starting to look pretty good.  This new ruling also applies to the piston or recoil device in most pistol suppressors.  You can no longer get multiple pistons so you can use just one suppressor on multiple pistols with different size threaded barrels unless you already have the adapters.  I know all this because I am about to order a suppressor that I want to use on three different guns all with different thread pitches.

The problem as I see it is: AAC for example make suppressors for ARs/M4s that use the A2 birdcage style flash hider.    Right now, there's no restrictions on A2 FH sales (nor should there be) but if the ATF wants to flex a little muscle, they could claim the same policy should apply to A2s (or Vortexs, or any number of other FHs that allow the mounting of a can).....hell, they could go so far as to say threaded bbls are QD in nature.   I don't think they'll pull that....I'm just saying they *could*.

But, I'm sure my tinfoil is on too tight. Wink

SOOOOOOOOO.... Now is the consensus that unless we are trying to buy One (1) can and 2-3 QD Flash Hiders for different cals., things are remaining status quo' and there isn't really a problem?  I STILL DO NOT TRUST THOSE SNEAKY OBAMANAZI'S!.  I think that I am going to try to buy a couple that can be used for can mounts even if they are NOT QD's, just in case they get another wild hair up their wazoo!

And another thing!  If the NRA doesn't seem to be doing anything much to help us, I am going to research these others that Sean K. touted.  I get ticked off at the NRA sending me notices that my dues are up every other month!  That is a PURE WASTE OF MONEY!!  I called them one time and told them if that is what they are going to do, then they could just forget me!  It stopped for about one year and now it's started up again!..........I swear, it doesn't seem that anything or anyone does business very ethically.  It's a real shame!!

Kind regards, Sinker

There are no changes right now.  I am picking up a couple QD FHs this weekend.  I didn't ask about a different booster for my 9mm can but I will.  Maybe it just depends on the manufacturer.  Are you getting YHM.
