Anyone going to the Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly, VA at the Dulles Expo Center this weekend?

Hey Fan,
I won't be able to go, but I am wondering, if one sees something he wants to buy, can one do it with our CC license or do you have to get some type of VA ID?   Like, I am NOT a VA resident, so how would I be able to purchase?
Thanks, SINKER

If you buy from a private individual, there's no paperwork - you give them money, they give you the gun.

If you buy from an FFL holder, it must be transferred through an FFL in the state in which you are legally resident.

I don't have a VA license either but I do have my military ID. All I gotta do is bring a copy of my orders to show with the Mil ID, as well cause there ain't NO WAY I'm gonna relinquish my TX license!

You guys better be careful... You have to be a Virginia resident to purchase a handgun. Doesn't matter who you purchase it from. Long guns, now that is a different story.

Are you certain?

I had several long guns transferred by a Virginia FFL, even though I am officially an Idaho resident.  The FFL here (in Virginia) just filled out the form and marked me as an Idaho resident, ran the Virginia background check, and off I went.

Long guns are OK, pistols have to be transferred to your state.

Just out of curiosity, what are the gun shows that have the manufacturers there with displays of the new models and all?

Me and my brother went to a gunshow out here in Utah and it was like a gigantic pawn shop.  Everything was pricey too.  I'd really like to go to one of the gunshows that has the newest firearms out there with displays of all the manufacturers that you lovingly caress.

Those are trade shows, SHOT, the NRA Convention, Small Arms Symposium, stuff like that.  Unfortunately most local small time shows do seem like Pawn Shops sometimes.  Every now and then you will find something good though.

Thanks,
Are you aware of any trade shows in Salt Lake City, UT?

I do know you can get some decent deals depending on the day and what you're looking for but I'd really like to see the brand spankin' new stuff.

I went Friday and bought the 3-day for 18 vs the one day 12.  So the spousal-unit and I got a hotel room and I went to the show and she went shopping at Tyson's Corner Center ( Duh).  I went Friday and Saturday.  Then we went to Ikea and bought a truck bed full of stuff.  That is probably the best show I have ever been to.  It had everything.  Prices were still a little high on somethings.  But for the most part, prices were somewhat fair.  Much better than in the last 6 months.

I did find MBUS sights in FBE both front and rear.  That is pretty rare at most shows.  I think I bought the last one.  I am trying to build me an M4 that looks just like the S&W M&P15 with the Magpul MOE handguard, CTR stock, & MOE grip, all in FDE.  I bought everything I needed at the show for about $450.  The sights I got for $100 even.

When we had to furnish our Virginia house, my wife and I drove up there to Ikea with a Uhaul trailer, spent an entire day there (with a short trip to the Costco across the street) and dropped about six grand.

I picked up the three day ticket and went Friday evening and Saturday.  After all that walking, I'm too tired to even think about going back today.

They had the gun show set up in both expo center buildings this time, though the "North Building" wasn't quite full.  If anything, it allowed them to put a little more space between the aisles and that really helped make it easier to get around.  Concealed carry classes were being conducted on the back right side of the North Building too.

The people selling reloading supplies, especially primers, are still smoking good dope.  One had a sign saying you had to purchase bullets or powder in order to purchase primers with a limit of 1K per customer.  Another had Winchester large rifle primers for $54 per 1K.

A local shop to me had Winchester Large Rifle for $36 per thousand.  I can't believe that they are asking that much.  That is the same as the people that marked up the Pmags to almost $30 a mag.

Maybe but the people I saw were lined up like they were giving away gold bars with every purchase.   Duh

Went Saturday with my Dad. Accidently started in the North hall (did not know it was in both till later). I was walking around very dissapointed that it wasn't as big or as good as before. Someone finally told us to try the other hall but by the time we got over there we only had 10 minutes. Duh

I saw regular non-windowed pmags being sold for $18 when the windowed versions sell for that price or less online.  These prices are why online retailers are doing so much better than the local shop.  I understand that you can't buy in as much bulk as the big online retailers can, but perhaps you can if you know how to run a business right.  It may cost a bit more of your profits at first, but in soon  you will be able to order in bulk like the big guys and you will be making hundreds of thousands of dollars profit a year.  I have a friend in Missouri who is a dealer and he has been making huge profits like that.  He even didn't raise his prices (much) during the craze.  Instead he just sold more than normal.

I've been slammed at work and have not taken anything out since we went shooting  Shocked

But good to have a job.    My two cents.

Too long!  I'm due for a break and hope to get that part you sent me in there for a try soon.

Thanks!
