I get the impression that they are not.
If this is the case ( :'( ) is there a good alternate Kalashnikov?

I don't think anyone is importing VEPR's anymore.

I am not fully up on AK info, but I believe Molot got purchased by Izhmash.

Molot and Izhmash were/are the two main makers of Kalashnikov carbines in all of Russia, so you cant get more authentic.

You can get Saigas and conversions pretty easy, but VEPR's are very very rare these days. So if you want Russian, Saiga is as good as it gets.

I thought the VEPR's were made by RobArms?

I have a Saiga but don't like the wierd mags that are hard to get.

Bummer.  Sad

Nope. Veprs were imported by Robinson, given the correct number of US made parts, given new stocks, and then sold by Robinson.

The Saigas are usually converted to a reagular looking AK by an AKsmith from those goofy looking "sporter" rifles, like Robinson did with the Veprs. When they do that the magwell is changed to take standard AK mags. If you want a high quality AK and don't mind paying for that quality you can do no better than Krebs Custom or Arsenal Inc.
